Alabama native poet Jake York will be poet-in-residence at Ole Miss this Summer

Jake York will be the poet-in-residence at the University of Mississippi this summer, living in the Lawrence House across from Rowan Oak.

Award-winning poet Jake Adam York, associate professor of English and creative writing at the University of Colorado-Denver, is the third Summer Poet in Residence at the University of Mississippi.

The acclaimed author will live in Oxford from June 15 to July 17, as a guest in the Lawrence House, a gift to the Department of English from John and Renee Grisham.

During his stay, York plans to continue writing his sequence of elegies for civil rights martyrs.

This is altogether a good thing.  Jake York is the brother of filmaker extrordinaire and Oxford resident Joe York.  We look forward to him being here.
