Lying down on the floor has always been my reaction.
Real men always advance toward the sound of gunfire.
Favorite sign in the International Zone, next to a clearing barrell: “All weapons must be cleared before alcohol will be served.”
Thank you for your service, Vet. Law school goin’ OK?
Life’s a lot better here than in the IZ … no requirements for clearing weps before entering bars.
Happy New Year, Mate.
Ben, in Ranger School they always taught us to advance toward the gunfire at a low crawl.
At Clerk’s School at Fort Polk, Louisiana in 1971 the banner above our South Fort barracks proudly proclaimed: “We do not retreat, we backspace.”
NZ, dat funny..I don’t care who you are
SCOTUS rules that torture OK. Says so-called enemy combatants are not “persons” under the Constitution.
Obama and Holder delighted with decision.
No comment from “Times” nor the “Post.”

Thank you, Ben, it’s going well. The IZ boasted the highest quality of life I ever experienced on deployment, so you won’t hear me complain about it. That said, I still *greatly* appreciate the easy livin’ here in the hometown!
Happy New Year!
Gentry–Not finding any links to the decision (or, perhaps more importantly, briefings) that started that Dred Scott thread. Do you know the name of the case, docket #, etc? I’m interested to read the arguments and background, and the exact language of the ruling.

I can only direct you to the link from the Chris Floyd piece.
If Iraqis, Afghans, Pashtuns are now “non-persons,” I can only assume that the practice of “dead checking” will continue.
Future “non-persons” will be in Central Africa as General Ward’s AfriCom is already carrying out Special Ops with Uganda’s Museveni and Rwanda’s Paul Kagame in Congo(Zaire.)
