They’re going to allow hunting what?? I’m not going to say a word other than join in the general derision

Emily Wagster Pettus of the AP has noted the title of an actual bill before the Mississippi legislature:

AN ACT TO REQUIRE THE MISSISSIPPI COMMISSION ON WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS TO ESTABLISH A SPECIAL HUNTING SEASON FOR TERMINALLY ILL YOUTH UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

Mainly I’m not commenting because Anderson beat me to the best comment:  “is Barbour behind this? Because it might just be another way to reduce Medicaid costs.”  H/t Anderson and Will Bardwell.

Reduction of Medicaid cost? Isn’t that taking “Country-boy can survive” just a bit far. They will probably be given a life-time hunting and fishing licenses along with those drastic cuts.

The irony is that most of our legislators would look at that and say, ” Yeah. What’s wrong with that?”

  • Doesn’t anyone READ these things before they introduce a bill with that title? Sheesh.

Most MS folks who read that title know that it is referring to allowing terminally ill youth a special season to hunt game. Then there are those “special” others who might read it differently and because of their lack of knowledge of hunting, not know any better. Bless their hearts.

I first have to say that I am appalled!!!!!!! Shame on Herb Frierson!!!!!! http://billstatus.ls.state.ms.us/members/house/frierson.xml

Most MS folks may understand what it means afotl, but not because the intent was well stated. Who can blame the Courts for rewriting legislation if the laws are so poorly drafted? After all, these are lawmakers, not publishers, hunters or not. Have they learned nothing from NMC’s cautionary blog of ill advised headlines?

AFOTL: Knowledge of hunting has nothing to do with the bill. Knowledge of at least 4th grade grammar has everything to with it. Making laws requires English skills … not hunting prowess. Deflate your chest.

What a wonderful, compassionate gesture! What better way to appease the threat of imminent death than going out and killing something. Now, if that special season included our retarded legislators as fair gaime, I’d be all for it. OOPPS! There I’ve gone and offended the “retarded”. Rham Emmanuel, take solace. We’re both damned.
