Al Franken won a unanimous decision from the Minnesota Supreme Court; Coleman concedes, and so the senate race there is finally over.
Here’s a Franken Decision, thanks to Third South. While Franken may now be the Minnesota legislator who is funniest on purpose, Michele Bachman may be (not on purpose) the funniest (she’s also the scariest).
I saw a variation on the Bachman quote somewhere but don’t know who to credit with it.

Long way from SNL and hi I’m AlFranken!
I’ve got a little law story. May be interesting or not. It seems that there was this little incident Sunday night. There was one person pointing a gun at this one year old and her grandmother telling them they knew how to shoot.
Monday afternoon the person was taken in for mental evaluation. The process takes three days. This person however was released before five Tuesday afternoon. Before the evaluation. There is a connection to that infamous chemical release. I’m under the impression others involved in wrong doing regarding any aid to those attorneys will never be held accountable of their acts no matter what. What is it about that crap.
May be there won’t be some tragedy over this but still. I also know of additionally money going to this person from that certain event. Whatever could be said of these state actions in secrecy. Beware as in endangers everyone. Talk is someone pulled strings. Someone needing evaluation.
Reagan was roundly criticized by some in 1976 and 1980 as being a mere B movie actor. Yet, he proved to be an outstanding president. Anyone want to hazard a bet that Franken will be a significant contributor to the US Senate?
We have Dennis Miller on the right as some type of “intellectual” and Al Franken on the left as a United States Senator. We are f*&^$#. Bread and circuses. This is how empires collapse.
Check Al Franken’s IQ. He’s a bright man with a top drawer education. Just because he mastered the very difficult field of stand up humor does not a simple or “bread and circus” Senator make. If anything, it makes him more fit for the office than had he chosen another field, like preaching or car sales or practicing law.
Bread and circuses. I take no joy in it as I have children, but enjoy the ending, NZS.
can anyone explain what Robert is talking about up there? I can’t make any sense of it.
Jax: let Robert explain Robert.
Better yet Jaxrelief: Let it go.
I don’t know if I’d be more afraid of the explanation itself or the person(s) understanding it.
All I wanna know is who was wielding the heat. I have a suspicion … that’s good enough for me.
Please DO NOT put Reagan and Franken in the same sentence. Reagan was a Democrat before he saw the light and became a Republican. Reagan was president of a union (and remains the only POTUS who was a union president) and then had a two successful terms as governor of California. Reagan won the Presidency in two landslides. Reagan’s policies toppled the Soviet empire.
Meanwhile, Franken is not a particularly funny comedian, and he is a documented liar. While hosting his radio show on Air America, Franken did not pay his employees any benefits, and he did not pay any taxes, either (seems to be a shared policy among Democrats to NOT pay taxes. Franken’s election was not a landslide but is problematic – the same old story from Florida, count some votes but ignore other votes.
EVERYONE in the US should be embarrassed that Franken was elected US Senator. We should also be embarrassed that Hilliary Clinton was elected Senator from NEW YORK and that Elizabeth Dole was elected Senator from NORTH CAROLINA. These people are carpetbaggers. They are NOT interested in public service. They are interested only in holding political power. Washington, Franklin, Adams, and Jefferson must be rolling in their graves.
Observer, ftw.
Lemme tell you with a bit more precision just what Reagan accomplished. He condemned 241 Marines and sailors to death in Beirut. And for what? To establish a “temporary American presence” … a “presence,” for crying out loud, whatever the hell that was. I’ll tell you what it was. It was a brainfart by a bumbling old man who never had an original thought in his life, other than to snake another woman, and who couldn’t recite his whole name unless it was printed on a cue card.
Need more? OK … contrary to federal law prohibiting such acts, he allowed the Iran-Contras deals to be consummated. Got a problem with modern day Iran, its leadership, and its armaments? Well guess who got that ball rolling. Iraq and Iran engaged in a war? … Guess who provided the arms, including state of the art F14 aircraft to Iraq. And where did the proceeds of the arms sales go? I’ll give you a hint: it wasn’t the US treasury.
Don’t give me any crap about that doddering old fool.
Sorry about any problem with what I’ve written. I’m very grateful that NMC has allowed me to comment here after a little incident where I was wrong to use such words as I did in a past comment. I owe the community an apology. I am very sorry. I can’t change the past.
If it’s OK I’ll try to explain my recent comment briefly. With holding names at this point. There were this couple who were soliciting false claims for that chemical release. I’ve seen repeated special favors. Oh hell it was the sheriff’s uncle and aunt, any way the gun event was as I describe. in remembering I use to go through their trash can and recall a mental report of the gun pointer. It said they saw lights and heard voices.
I commented to say the favorS in this @%$^$&%^*^& court case. Not implying bad words but the like of understanding why we are targets of abuse by the entire justice system. If I had not followed the paper trail I’d have nothing to say. However I did. Using my brush you could paint the devil. Get me started. Ya we held an election here. But it was to place further support for that event occurring back in 1995.
Tom I’m not against all attorneys. But I do despise evil. Letting go is cool till the gun is pointed at your child or mine. If this person cause’s harm to someone and I’m alive you can bet I’ll tell the victim/victims that this person eluded mental evaluation. This one’s something it’s family and friends. AGAIN
This is an interesting comment…
“Please DO NOT put Reagan and Franken in the same sentence.”
Ben, I have no service in the armed forces (medical rejection). I emphasize to my children that our service men and women are the best, bravest, and most honorable people in all of our land. I want them to always keep that in mind when they see uniformed men and women-and the sacrifices those people and their families make-sacrifices my family does not know or can truly appreciate the gravity of.
I would never demean or de-value the lives of those individuals whose lives are lost in the service of this country (no matter what my opinion of the conflict).
However, when their jobs intersect with geo-political reality, I stand as a “realist” in the truest of Morgenthau’s use of the term; therefore, when we, as a nation, establish a presence in an area as sensitive as Beirut, I do not think any leader takes it lightly. I am not above being incorrect, but I respectfully disagree with the implication (that I perceived) that President Reagan took this lightly.
Razor can you understand this. My brother in law. In prison 10 years now for murder. The murder took place in Marion County. The same day my brother in law was on the coast. The paper reported the death and I have a copy along with a copy of a medical report. My brother in law’s. On the day of the murder he was in a hospital for I think the report said dislocated shoulder. His real crime was being exposed to the toxins at our home from that release after reports the matter was no longer a threat. Most of the folks who became exposed at our home were made silent.
Observer, I hear you loudly and clearly. I was on board with Reagan while most were still trying to spell Republican. I enjoy watching public opinion being shaped. My question was aimed at inquiring at just how many really think Franken will be justifiably critiqued and, where appropriate, criticised. My hunch is not many. It’s always been vogue to criticise Reagan (the best POTUS in my lifetime), Quayle and GW Bush. But, I bet Franken goes unsullied. Yet, it’s hard to take seriously someone who authors a book calling a public figure “a big fat idiot”.
i am more lost now. nmc and ben, i will heed your advice.
This comment doesn’t fit the thread, but it goes along with the snarkey comment about anorexia (sp?) being cured in MS from the other day.

Jax, hoping that someone follows this comment so not as to appearing I need the last word. However,I think it not proper to detour the original intended thread. It should be somewhat obvious that my focus is on what has occurred to my family a mist the absents of civil law in this state, and the needs of my family. I’m effected. Our claims have achieved awards but no relief to now Civil rights violations / medical needs.
As to your comment/reply. I think it, you actually understand and simply want to here more tales from the crypt ie. the Mississippi I’ve got pull back woods back road back stabbing dealings of the good old boys network of family and friends which abandons law over personal choice to fulfill personal desire of a mid-life crisis. One moment as I catch my breath. Understanding the simple made complicated it’s so easy a cave man from Raymond County could understand it.
May be if it’s OK I could drop by and tell an old crypt story to the community via an open thread. Would add distraction to the present day mayhem of other events. Hell’ man after all just about every high profile attorney being convicted of some crime at this time was associated to our claims. Some connect to the South American drug ring laundering money no less. Class action any one?
Is there a transcript anywhere of the congratulatory call from Norm Coleman to Senator Franken?
Al Franken is good enough, he’s smart enough, and doggone it, the people of Minnesota like him. At least he is not a pro “wrastler.”
