At his first post-Argentina-cabinet meeting, Gov. Sanford explains that his decision going forward will have a Biblical basis:

NMC, how was the Hill country picnic? Picked up Elvis Costello’s new record. Because it was produced by T-Bone Burnett, and peopled with great session players, i.e., Jerry Douglas, I built up my expectations. Mistake. Costello’s melodies just sound awkward to me. Despite his many successes, Burnett produces some stinkers from time to time. I was disapointed in the record he produced for Cassandra Wilson also.
A love story indeed. This guy doesn’t know when to shut up.

Sanford failed to note that in “picking up the pieces,” David whacked Bathsheba’s husband and took the grieving widow as his own. Sanford wasn’t the first man with a “Bathsheba problem.” He won’t be the last. Such an easy and inviting problem to get into, literally and figuratively, but such a difficult one to get out of….

I tend to think it more appropriate had Sanford cited Humpty Dumpty than David.
