The top one is a live clip of him covering “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” from the 80s in Germany. The bottom is a montage over one of his best known songs, “Cry to Me,” classic Atlantic soul.

What a stirring rendition of “I Can’t Stop Loving You”! I’ve linked to this blog entry on a post of mine also about him. Mine highlights Solomon Burke’s great influence on Led Zeppelin. Compare the two songs called “Baby Come On Home” as a great example of that influence!
RIP, Solomon Burke.
Solomon’s version like red velvet
What a great voice. The HBO series “The Wire” ended its run on HBO with a Solomon Burke song “Fast Train”. Reminded me of how great a singer he was. He will be missed!
A Terri Gross-led 1986 interview with Burke will be re-broadcast tonight on Fresh Air (WMVA 90.3 in Oxford):
