Sweet Emma would be proud. And those of you are too young to remember Sweet Emma Barrett singing with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band probably won’t recognize how much her vocal style was indebted to Lucille Bogan, though Lucille took it a rung or two lower down in every respect in her most famous, most often replayed hit, “Shave ‘Em Dry”:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ko2VXpW7_g&feature=related
