Jerry Mitchell had an interesting pair of stories about the possibility of further prosecutions for the murders of civil rights workers Schwerner, Chaney, and Goodman in Philadelphia in 1964.
Recall a while back Jerry Mitchell had a story about a former inmate who had material for a tell-all book based on information he got from Edgar Ray Killen when in the cell next to Killen. Mitchell moved this along with two stories today and yesterday:
- Yesterday, he reported that a pathologist who reviewed the autopsy records for the murdered civil rights workers said that he saw two bullets that had not been removed during the autopsy of Chaney, and that those could provide ballistics evidence about who owned one of the guns that shot Chaney: “Exhuming James Chaney’s body could help identify others involved in the Ku Klux Klan’s 1964 killings of Chaney and two other civil rights workers, a world-renowned forensic pathologist says. That’s because X-rays show two bullets were never removed from Chaney, said Dr. Michael Baden of New York City. ‘They’re still in his body, and they could be matched to the weapons that did it.’” Ballistics evidence– and accounts from a Klan witness– have already shown that more than one gun was used in the killing.
- Today, he goes back to the source of the tell-all book and writes that Killen told the jail-mate that he had hidden evidence in Klan murders on his property because it had never been searched. HeCould C states there are murder weapons on the property from the Philadelphia murders, “a photograph of those who took part in the lynching of an unnamed black man near the Mississippi Gulf Coast – ‘five of them on that limb, trying not to look.’” He also had Klan membership lists hidden in church member roll information. Reading about the lynching near the Gulf Coast, Mack Charles Parker came to my mind, although that’s only a wild guess.

New Evidence to Act on in 1964 Klan Murder of James Chaney on Hungry Blues has similar news and is worth a look.
Isn’t it just a bit of a stretch to believe that a critter like Killen would closely harbor his darkest secrets for a half century, then tell all to a total stranger passing time with him at the Greybar Inn? I call b…s… on all this, but I’ll yield to real evidence, if any there is.
The so-called new evidence in Beckwith’s triple jeopardy up there in Batesvillewas hearsay evidence from Delmar Dennis, that he heard Beckwith admit to killing Evers.</i}
This is the same Fordice-bought witness that appeared in Bowers' trial in Hattiesburg, who claimed Bowers ordered the firebombing of the Vernon Dahmer home. As I recall, Dennis had been convicted had never served time in the Dahmer firebombing. It was reported that Fordice offered clemency to Dennis if he would testify against Bowers;otherwise he(Dennis) was going to serve his court-imposed prison sentence at Parchman.
I was watching WDAM TV when the black female jury foreman was interviewed as the jurors were leaving the jury room. The WDAM reporter asked the jury foreman what was the clear and convincing evidence that brought about the guilty verdict. She said that the only evidence was the testimony of Delmar Dennis and that they did not find him to be a credible witness, but went ahead and did the right thing, anyway.
What are the NMC censorship protocols on posting to these forums.
All my posts have been removed. Is there a connection between the Jackson Free Press and NMC?
Ben I’ll venture on the stretch. If i’ve got this right. He’s a life timer. If he has somethings hidden its as good a time to tell as any. Anything hidden for so long just might get lost and never known. Does he want some of the spotlight hitting folks like DeLaughter? If, being a big word. What IF the rounds didn’t match the gun used for conviction. Just a thought. I see it as a little better than sharing secrets if he has evidence in proof. Maybe he’s making peace with his maker. Or at the least its all graybar critter crap.
The single ,303 round recovered from Evers’ body was so badly damaged, that the forensic scientist at the FBI were never able to link the bullet to the “drop weapon” found at the scene.
A single, partial fingerprint was found on the Taiwanese(Golden Eagle?)scope, but photos of the weapon that appeared in the papers showed members of the JPD handling the rifle and scope before it was ever turned over for evidence collecting.
The definive work on the first trial and subsequent double jeopardy Beckwith trial can be found in the book by R.W. Scott:Glory In Conflict The Saga Of Byron De La Beckwith.
If one looks at the FBI memos in the book, it is obvious that the even the FBI believed that there was not evidence to convict Beckwith. And I seem to recall from the book, Beckwith reported the rifle stolen weeks before the assassination.
And FBI agent Stringer is on record as testifying that Matthews and the FBI had a key to Beckwith’s car and planted the so-called “ticking timebomb” in the car before he made the antique selling trip to New Orlenas.

As for de la Beckwith, or John Wilkes Booth for that matter, he was a coward, who shot a man who was guilty of nothing other than simply BEING a Negro, from a concealed sniper’s lair, To me, and by the “code” I live by, that was COWARDLY. If someone beluieves that another man needs killing, then FACE him, and then do it.[/i]
And the Marine Corps trains snipers to shoot civilans at Fallujah and pin medals on them for their “kills.
What about that, bubba? Read the journals of American journalist Dahr Jamial, who was on the scene at Fallujah and witnessed the promiscous slaughter of civilians by MC snipers.

As I recall the Louisiana “ticking time bomb” case against Beckwith was a double jeopardy case in that Beckwith was acquitted by a Federal jury of the same charge. But the State of Louisiana only had to prove that “bomb-making material” was found in his possession–in the automobile. After serving a five-year term at Angola Prison, the State of Louisiana Appeals court vacated the judgment of the five-member female black jury.
Deposition by FBI Agent Stringer on the framing of Beckwith in the so-called “ticking timebomb” case in New Orleans:

It is importatnt to remember that prior to the assassination of Evers in 1963, President Eisenhower had ordered the DIA/CIA to murder Patrice Lumumba in the Congo(tortured and hacked to pieces by Mobutu’s rebels and administered the coup de gras by Belgian mercenaries.. And it was at this time that the CIA’s Operation MHCHAOS was spying on civilians in the US. MHCHAOS worked closely with the FBI’s COINTELPRO.
I wonder who is in possession of Big Jim Ingram’s papers? You can bet that the gutting of the FOIA act by Paradoxical Ted Kennedy, Orin Hatch and the ACLU will assure that they’ll never see the light of day!
See Angus MacKenzie’s book, Secrets, for the story on how the ACLU’s Mort Halperin and Mark Lynch conspired with CIA insiders in 1964 in blocking access to the CIA papers by gutting the FOIA and signing on to the CIA Information Act of 1964.
From the STRINGER Deposition:
…I had no prior knowledge of any details of any investigation that the FBI had been conducting on Mr. Beckwith. My knowledge of Mr. Beckwith consisted only of what I read in the newspaper and saw on the television and heard on radio. Mr. Moore then stated to me if I refused to assist Tommy Webb in putting the dynamite into Mr Beckwith’s car, he was going to have to do something to me, which he did not at first specify what he meant.
He, a few moments later, said that if I did not assist Tommy Webb in putting dynamite into Mr. Beckwith’s car that he was going to have all of Tommy Webb’s work reassigned to me and I would have to do my own work as well as the work that was assigned to Webb. I told Mr. Moore that would be all right with me, that I still refused to do anything illegal. I thereupon left Mr. Moore’s office and within a few days, I started getting cases reassigned to me which had previously been assigned to Special Agent Tommy Webb. I worked these cases, never complained to anyone about it, and shortly thereafter, Tommy Webb started coming to my desk frequently and informing me of the progress of his attempt to put dynamite in Mr. Beckwith’s car.
In fact, on one occasion, Special Agent Tommy Webb informed me that he had obtained the dynamite by purchasing it at the Dixie Dynamite Company which was at that time located on Northside Drive across the street from the Mississippi Power and Light Co. substation. He informed me that he told the lady in the Dixie Dynamite Co. office in making application for the explosive that he intended to use the dynamite to blow up stumps on his mother’s farm in Ranking County, Miss. On a certain date, approximately two to three weeks after that time of hearing Special Agent Webb (talking with the dispatcher on the radio), Special Agent Webb came to my desk to inform me that Mr. Beckwith had been in Jackson earlier and that he had been notified of Mr. Beckwith coming to Jackson before he actually arrived by being informed of Mr. Beckwith’s intention by Gordon Clark, who he referred to as one of his informants.
According to Special Agent Webb, Mr. Clark, Mr. Matthews and Mr. Beckwith all went to lunch at the Mayflower Cafe on Capitol Street in Jackson, Mississippi. While they were in the Mayflower Cafe, Webb stated that he used a key to Mr. Beckwith’s car, which he had previously obtained, and entered Mr. Beckwith’s car, which was on a street off Capitol Street beside the Cafe, at which time, he placed several sticks of dynamite, an alarm clock, and a battery on the floor of Mr. Beckwith’s automobile behind the driver’s seat. He stated that he then closed and relocked the doors to Mr. Beckwith’s car and returned to his own car.
Webb informed me that sometime thereafter Beckwith came out from the Mayflower Cafe and got in his car and drove away. Special Agent Webb informed me that he then followed this vehicle of Mr. Beckwith and followed him to New Orleans, Louisiana. He stated that upon arriving in New Orleans, he radioed the New Orleans FBI office on the FBI radio and informed the New Orleans radio dispatcher that Mr. Beckwith was in New Orleans and that he had dynamite in his automobile. Special Agent Webb thereafter informed me that the FBI, including himself, took this case of interstate transportation of an explosive device to the federal grand jury in New Orleans, and the grand jury returned a true bill of indictment. …
A show trial similar to the Triple Jeopardy Beckwith Trial and the Nuremberg Trials is playing out in Munich.
The Testimony of long-dead witnesses is being read into the Munich trial. Even the Israeli Supreme Court found the OSI’s evidence unconvincing, releasing Demjanjuk from a death sentence and sending him back to Cleveland, accompanied by Congressman James Traficant who was instrumental in retrieving the trashed exculpatory evidence found in dumpsters outside the DoJ’s OSI headquarters.

Anyone know the relationship between Judge Kitchens up in Lowndes County and the Judge Kitchens that Beckwith sought out for his defense team?
Judge Kitchens in Columbus is not old enough to have been practicing law in 1964.
I do recall that Judge Kitchens in Columbus wrote the minority opinion for Chief Judge Dan Lee in Beckwith’s Triple Jeopardy Trial.
Most memorable event of that show trial was that the Memphis truck driver, who testified in the Double Jeopardy Trial that the white valiant parked near the assassination scene belonged to him, NOT Byron De La Beckwith, was not permitted to testify by the Judge. Important exculpatory evidence was withheld from the jurors, not that it would have made any impact on that jury.
Wow!..A blog within a blog…who’d a thunk it.
Tom?..Tom?…hello???
T.G. it must have taken a lot of time to gather all this. Were you somehow personally involved in some manner? My best guess is that more likely than not your postings are correct. Makes one wonder if the courts in these neighboring states in the fifth district were ever used for justice or if its always been a political tool of corruption. Theres always some a-hole making a name for a political run at something. And by chance they screw up peoples life they cite immunity. And don’t forget by joking of it or keeping it best unheard you can go along to get along. After awhile people from other states label you as stupid. Although not as fast as killing citizens with sniper fire the courts sure do there part in causing and sometime promote the death of innocent people with the kind of stuff coming out of them. ie, they reject the facts over personal desires. Does that black robe come with a hood? Maybe it should.
But hey man present day justice isn’t any better.
Based upon the evidence presented by the State, I am not convinced of Beckwith’s guilt.
But I was in the province of Cyrennica, Libya when the assassination of Evers occurred and never read the Beltway media newspapers during that period when I was overseas. But the talk of the town in Libya and the Arabic press at the time were the assassinations of President Kennedy(1963), the Congo’s Patrice Lumumba(1961) and UN Secretary General Daj Hammarskjold(1961). The conventional wisdom was that the assassinations were all linked. The Arabs believed that Hammarskjold was going to bring a peaceful solution to the Palestine refugee problem and the Israelis acted through the Belgians to have his plane shot down during the negotiations to resolve the Congolese imbroglio. In 1948, the UN had sent to Palestine the Swedish envoy Count Folk Bernadotte–Vice President of the Swedish Red Cross– to try to resolve the problem of the millions of Palestinian refugee that had fled the terrorist armies of the Stern Gang and the Irgun.
The Stern Gang stopped the UN convoy and murdered both Bernadotte and his French aide Colonel Serot. Yitzhak Shamir was allegedly the “shooter” that pumped five bullets into Bernadotte chest as he sat in his auto. Shamir has never confirmed nor denied that he was the shooter, but did confirm he ordered the assassination. Maybe Hammarskjold was attempting to bring some justice to the refugees, Bernadotte and Serot.
After reading DC investigative reporter Wayne Madsen’s book, Genocide and Covert Operations in Africa, 1991-1999, I am convinced that these reports were probably true.
And until just a few months ago, posted on YouTube was a five-part series on America’s part in the assassination of Patrice Lumumba. In part #3 of the series, DIA Agent Larry Devlin says that President Eisenhower ordered the “liquidation” of Patrice Lumumba to be carried out by Belgian mercenaries. He was to be poisoned, but Lumumba ended up tortured and hacked to death.
Funny thing, though, that Larry Devlin confession segment has been deleted from YouTube. Devlin must have violated his “loyalty oath” with the CIA by not submitting the interview to the CIA censors.
pr1954 you are quite right. T. Gentry needs to quit hijacking threads as it is rude and not at all polite. However TG clearly deserves his/her own blog since it seems he/she has a message. Let’s hope TG gets one and stcks to posted subjects from here on out.
I thought I was sticking to posted subjects i.e., the framing of Byron De La Beckwith by corrupt judges and district attorneys.
