The Thai place in the motel at South Lamar and Highway 6 in Oxford has a shipment of fresh oysters and jumbo shrimp from Louisiana.
Oysters on the half-shell with a really good Thai dipping sauce (shallot, pepper oil, scallions, sesame seed, fish oil, etc) and crisp.fried shallots really work, though the very fresh oysters are a bit bland.
This not going to be a common treat.

There’s a thai place in oxford? we must check this out. see you in August I hope.
I have had the spring rolls, the drunken noodles, and the pepper beef. All three were excellent.
We won’t make it to this before the oysters are gone, but this is one of the best blog posts ever! There can be no greater service than broadcasting opportunities for oysters on the half-shell and jumbo shrimp.
BTW: I’m also into the Court of Appeals and other posts, but oysters, shrimp and pig’s ear will keep me coming back like nothing else.
Ignatius, regarding spring rolls, please describe. Fried or chilled wrappers? What were the contents?
DLM, you are on point here: The place has SUMMER rolls, which are not on the menu, and have basil inside and a rice paper rapper and are not fried. They’ve figured this is what my wife and I want and nothing else.
Demand the rolls that aren’t fried. They are good, and the place needs to understand that is where the market is.
Hooray! We’ve wanted to go there, but their hours of operation have so far defied our hours of availability.
What are the hours of operation?
