Sad news from Middendorf’s in Manchac

Middendorf, a long-time and beloved seafood restaurant in Manchac, Louisiana has had its second hurricane related flood since Katrina. Sad to see this.

The pictures are from Middendorf’s Facebook feed; h/t MK Aldin.

Wow. Can they even get insurance for this any more?

It’s sick to see some of these pictures.

The Jourdan River Steamer in the Kiln looks to have also gotten flooded pretty bad. Can’t quite tell from pictures of Shaggy’s in the Pass how bad they’ll be hurt. I’m hoping they didn’t keep much on the bottom floor because it’s under water, or at least was yesterday.

A place on Mobile Bay we love to visit got tired of this kind of flooding and now we go up about 35 feet on an elevator. It does make for a better view.

I’d like for the owners of Middendorf’s to open a “Middendorf’s North” operation in Oxford. They educated their young at Ole Miss … they should go ahead and open up here. Oxford restaurants don’t flood.

I always look forward to stopping there on the way back from weekends in New Orleans. They came back pretty quick after Katrina. I suppose this time will be no different. An Oxford Middendorf’s would be terrific, Ben.

Maybe we should pass the hat to raise a little love offering for the owners of Middendorf’s, and petition them to open an Oxford branch outlet.

I’ve got a $100 bill I’ll drop in the cup … was saving it to donate to the president’s re-election campaign, but after assessing the GOP’s prospects, such as they are … I need a new Middendorf’s more than President Obama needs my $100.

    Who’s in ….?

  • We love you guys. Thanks for all the love. We are reopening tomorrow. We have been working nonstop and with the help of many and are excited to get back to our norm.
And btw, never say never on a Middendorf’s in Oxford.
