- Later today, Ole Miss tennis start Devin Britton, who just turned pro, gets to play in his first-round match in his first U.S. Open. The New York Times had a story about this today. Against Roger Federer. Britton says “’It’s crazy,’ said Britton, speaking via cell phone from New York when asked his reaction to the draw. ‘But it should be a great experience.’”Federer is seeking to be the first man since the 1920s to win the open six years in a row, but first he has to get past Britton. (h/t lots of folks).
- This Commercial Appeal review of Deja Vu a new Creole Soul restaurant in Memphis sounded appealing– reminding me of a lot of places I love in New Orleans. It’s on Florida of Crump south of downtown. Anyone else know about it?

I keep noting the sign and wondering, but have no idea.
I see at the Volokh blog that Ole Miss is # 5 on National Jurist’s list of “best ‘value’ law schools.”
Possibly a grateful administration will rename the school as the University of Mississippi Best-Valu School of Law.

LB’s Meat Market is a butcher shop selling things like steak, hamburger patties, etc. Basically great quality meat that you cannot find anywhere around Oxford. A great addition! It will be open in a couple of weeks. The owner’s name is Buck Cunningham.
Claire, a meat market would be great– what are they going to have other than steak and burgers?
Great pork is available in Oxford from Stan’s & etc. We don’t have decent sources for other meat or seafood. What’s LB’s going to have?
LB’s Meat Market will have things such as boudin, stuffed chicken, porkchops (stuffed and regular), smoked meat, barbequed meat, seafood, etc. Buck Cunningham knows where to get the meat and will be able to get it…I will post the website once it is up and running. It will have the items and prices.
LB’s Meat Market: Also, if there is some type of meat he doesn’t have, anyone can request the kind they are wanting and he will see if he can get it. So it’s a pretty wide open window!
