I started (co)blogging as NMC in early 2008 on the Folo blog, (with coblogger Lotus); that blog went on hiatus in March, 2009. In 2005, I covered Fifth Circuit cases for the (now defunct) Appellate Law and Practice blog.

Yall vs Daily Journal on the Northern District US Attorney position

This morning, YallPolitics posted:

Today a source with insider knowledge tells YallPolitics McCoy’s “deep” ties with Joey Langston, and other issues, stalled her possible nomination. The source then went on to say Curtis Ivy, who has been a contender since the beginning, is highly regarded by many involved.

YP could not independently confirm Ivy’s chances, or whether McCoy’s ties actually prevented her from becoming the U.S. Attorney, however the source has been spot on with many other issues, and finds him credible enough to worthy this post.

This afternoon, Patsy Brumfield responded in the Northeast Daily Journal:

OXFORD – Christi R. McCoy’s nomination to be Northern District U.S. Attorney is on track, despite chatter on a Jackson-based political Internet site today, say people very close to the process.

McCoy, who was out of town, declined to comment. But others say rumors are quite untrue that her nomination to the post has “hit a snag.”

One source, especially close to the situation, said stories like this are being fed by people who’d rather not see the defense attorney and Booneville native succeed Republican Jim Greenlee.

Of course, you and I both know that you should turn to NMissCommentor and not either Patsy or Alan for the real answer, because we’ll always tell it straight, with no puffery about secret sources.  So the actual answer, based on fully current information, about who the next northern district US Attorney will be is below the fold.
