I am Tom Freeland, a lawyer in Oxford, Mississippi. The picture in the header is my law office. I'm on Twitter as NMissC
I started (co)blogging as NMC in early 2008 on the Folo blog, (with coblogger Lotus); that blog went on hiatus in March, 2009. In 2005, I covered Fifth Circuit cases for the (now defunct) Appellate Law and Practice blog.

Thursday Morning Open Thread

Reading accounts of the William Jefferson trial, it’s dawned on me that former Congressman Jefferson could be one of the few Americans to make money off Nigerian scamsters.

No way. I am just waiting on my $6M check from there to clear. It is a top secret transaction to help a family with an estate from a former Minister of Agriculture. You mean there are scamsters down there? haha

Have any pix of Sanford’s Argentine Firecracker been circulated on the Internet yet? I really wanna see what gave rise … lemme rephrase that … what lay … no, that won’t work either … what evoked the gov’s references to the Appalachian Trail and its peaks and valleys.

And a sincere congratulations to the National Champion LSU baseball team. Unlike another SEC team that comes readily to mind, the Tigahs proved they are winners.

From the movie “The Rock” … (Sean Connery talking): “Losers are always whining about doing their best… Winners go home and f*** the homecoming queen.”

They say she is the spitting image of Catherine Deneuve, but hotter, and more intelligent.

Enzie, the latter two claims are dubious without a picture and intelligence testing. I wanna be a CD when I grow up.

NZS: You been out in the sun too long, Shipmate. Catherine speaks 5 languages and is the ne plus ultra of beauty. But if you find pix of The Old Hiking Buddy, please pass them along.

DLM: Do like me … refuse to grow up. No one can MAKE us grow up. Just ask my ex-wife.

PS. I envision you as looking just like CD. You should envision me as looking like William Frawley.

I guess I never really wondered what caliber Jesus would pack until I read about it here.

Move over Sermon on the Mount, here comes an alternative entitled, God, Guns, Gospel, and Geometry.

My second thought is to question whether or not they’ll be serving burgoo after the service.

The climate change bill which would enact cap and trade and other such policies is under consideration now by the US House. IMO, it is a bad bill based upon junk science that will unnecessarily wreck our economy at the worst possible time. I have already emailed Congressman Childers with my suggestion that he vote NO.

As a continuation of a debate I inadvertently started about the science of man-caused global warming in another thread, I offer for your reading pleasure a very good article from today’s Wall Street Journal that supports most of my previous contentions. Enjoy.
